To launch our week focusing on 'Faith and Belief' we were delighted to welcome Fabrizia Verrecchia who performed Indian Classical Dance for our whole school assembly and held Indian Dance Workshops with Years 1 and 2.
'BHARATANATYAM' Traditional Indian Dance originated in the Temples of Tamil Nadu over 2000 years ago. Dance was performed in the temples to say goodmorning and goodnight to the Gods. Fabrizia showed us how to make intricate hand, feet and body movements in dance to tell stories. In the first dance we ask Mother Earth's permission to stamp our feet on the ground before dancing for Shivarna the 'Lord of Dance'.
